Letter from the President

Dear Academy Members,

I am looking forward to a busy and productive year for 2016 as acting MAA president.  I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our sponsors and vendors for their support and an educational contribution to our members at our annual convention.

We have already begun plans for the 2016 Fall Convention and Silent Auction which will take place on Friday, September 30, 2016 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Natick, MA. You will be receiving updates on the details of the conference and the schedule via Constant Contact email and social media. Our line-up of speakers include: Dr. Daniel Lee from MEEI,  Dr. Richard Salvi from the University of Buffalo and Dr. Don Schum from Oticon.  We would like to gratefully acknowledge Oticon for their Platinum level sponsorship for the 2016 Convention. We look forward to your attendance at this year’s convention for education and social networking.

Our lobbyists Gloria Craven and Stacy Ober will continue to represent MAA and monitor bills affecting the practice of audiology on Beacon Hill.   It is vital that our voices be heard on issues that affect our long term viability and patient care.  Legislative updates will be forth coming through the remainder of the legislative session.

We have installed an online presence to conduct and to promote member business and consumer awareness on our website and through social media with Facebook and Linked In.  We are striving to keep the audiologists of Massachusetts informed and up-to-date with the issues that affect their professional practice. If you are not certain of your membership status, please check the member directory on the website or contact us at audiology-mass.org.

If you are interested in helping us in these endeavors or joining the board please contact me or Adrienne Ulrich, or executive director. We do not require a long time commitment and your participation benefits you, the profession and our patients.

Best Regards,
Wendy Ring, M.S., F-AAA

President of the Massachusetts Academy of Audiology
